What is the eLan Foundation?

The eLan Foundation is a Section 21 Non-Profit Organisation responsible for the Social Responsibility division of the eLan Group. As an innovative property developer, the eLan Group has a specific directive aimed at uplifting and impacting positively upon communities neighbouring its developments. As it endeavours to provide upmarket developments to their investors, the eLan Group is acutely aware that it cannot operate in isolation. eLan Group CEO, Mark Taylor believes that:

"What we do as developers gives us the knowledge and means to improve the communities in which we work."

The eLan Foundation has identified nine distinct pillars of influence. These pillars are categorised to focus on achieving more than one objective when starting a new community project.

The nine pillars are:

2. Integrated Human Settlement
3. Wellbeing
4. Farming
5. Environment
6. Education
7. Skills Development
8. Economic Empowerment
9. Sports

Operating in the private sector, the eLan Group encourages cooperation and private-public partnerships, using the eLan Foundation as a vehicle to kick-start such initiatives. With different entities and companies coordinating their social efforts, more can certainly be achieved!

What are the aims of the eLan Foundation?

1. To research needs and identify opportunities
2. To raise funds and implement projects at grassroots level
3. To uplift and improve communities surrounding eLan developments
4. To integrate (cross-pollinate) projects as far as possible so that every effort has maximum gain
5. To meet with government approval in terms of projects that share a similar vision
6. To have strategic alliances with existing service organisation
7. To create opportunities for previously disadvantaged communities through the intellectual capital of the eLan Group and funding from corporates

What are the core principles of the eLan Foundation?

The initiatives and activities of the eLan Foundation must:

1. Meet a basic need
2. Be sustainable (community driven initiatives with the vital participation of community members)
