Having just returned from MIPIM in Cannes France, I have gained exposure from over 21 000 delegates from around the globe who in some way have invested interests in property and property development. The next development to be launched by the eLan Group is Royal Jozini, a Big Six Game Reserve set in Swaziland ! Swaziland has a peaceful image with a low crime rate. It is ruled by His Majesty King Mswati III and enjoys a one-tribe nation which does not segment the population. Swaziland has been independent for over 30 years and benefits from racial harmony in a non-racial environment (it’s almost the Switzerland of Africa).
Royal Jozini is a beneficiary of the Trans-Frontier Game Reserve of Mozambique, South Africa and Swaziland; an international area of over 260km² in extent. Also known as a Peace Park, a transfrontier conservation area normally describes a large ecological region that straddles the boundaries of two or more countries, encompassing one or more protected areas as well as multiple resource use areas. The Protocol commits the member States to promote the conservation of shared wildlife resources through the establishment of transfrontier conservation areas.

The announcement that interest rates are to remain unchanged (21 Mar 07) is good news for South African buyers who want to enter the property market. The decision by the Reserve Bank to leave the repo rate unchanged at 12.5% sends a message that consumers are now becoming more disciplined in their demand for credit, and paves the way for rate cuts later in the year. Meanwhile, the residential property market has stabilised and we are experiencing steady growth, with values of properties continuing to rise. With a robust economy and inflation held in check, the outlook for real estate in South Africa remains upbeat.
