Premiership Week 22

There were some great goals in the Premiership this week and none better than the one scored by Tottenham's Gareth Bale, a goal which pulled Tottenham back level with Manchester City, at the Ethiad Stadium, Spurs had gone 2-0 down after half time and then some slack defending from Savic allowed Jermaine Defoe to get one back and then the wonder goal from Bale, should have given Spurs the point that they had deserved, however it was not to be, Man City substitute Balotelli wriggled his way through the Tottenham defence in the 94th minute, before Spurs Captain Ledley King fouled him and conceded a penalty, Balotelli stepped up and calmly stroked the ball into the net, giving City all three points, but the story does not end there, just before
scoring the penalty, Balotelli had unceremoniously tried to stamp on the head of Scott Parker and had the referee seen it, it was a clear red card, the referee Howard Webb did not see it and Balotelli was able to stay on the pitch and score the winner.

Retrospectively Balotelli will now face a charge from the English FA and will probably get a three to four game ban, which is hardly any consolation for Spurs who are now eight points behind City and five points behind Manchester United.

Arsenal entertained Manchester United at the Emirates stadium and after an initial period of both teams just Sparring with each other, United took control of the game and just before half time a great cross from Ryan Giggs found Valencia who headed home, in the second half Robin Van Persie (who else) equalised, but it was still United who were dominating the game and a strike from Welbeck was the deciding factor as United went back to Manchester with all three points and condemned Arsenal to another demoralising defeat.

With four of the top teams playing each other it gave the chasing pack a chance to catch up, but all of the teams squandered the opportunity, Chelsea were away at Norwich and could only manage a 0-0 draw.

At the bottom, Wigan lost 3-1 at QPR, a first win for new manager Mark Hughes, Wolves lost 3-2 at home to Aston Villa, Blackburn picked up an unexpected point away at Everton, whilst West Brom got three very important points away at Stoke

Shaun Minnie is the CEO of PA Media, which, together with its partners, publish several well known brands such as Property Guide, Homeguide, Property Seller, Property Trader, Homefinder, and the recently launched multimedia brands PropertyJunction.co.za and AutoJunction.co.za

Many property experts have advised that, if you have money, now is the time to buy. What are your thoughts? By your estimation, will we see property prices rise or fall this year? Property remains a sound long term investment, and when the investment is in a family home, it is a good time to buy. Property prices are now realistic, and mostly offer good value for money. In my opinion property prices are likely to remain at current levels during this year, with demand for areas with good schools and good infrastructure driving prices up in these nodes.

In the game of selling and buying property, how can a seller ensure that their property is competitively priced without compromising the property's true value? A good estate agent will guide the seller to the right asking price, based on sales in the area and their knowledge of that particular market. Selecting the right agent, and then thoroughly discussing your requirements with them, will go a long way to ensuring sellers expectations are met, both in relation to the price their property is marketed at, and the time the property is likely to remain on the market at that price.

How have you overcome the challenges of the current property market in your industry? By offering our clients more bang for their buck. To achieve this we have had to be bold and innovative in changing our traditional business model. We identified the core objectives as; reduced rates,  increased quality of our magazines both in terms of paper and design, and consolidating our various brands under a single leading national brand. It will be possible to place advertising in our publications in 2012, at rates lower than we charged ten years ago!

After a much-needed and restful break with the family, the two words which articulate 2012 for me are, “consolidate and focus”! As a Group, 2012 will see us focusing on two key areas of the business namely our Sales & Marketing Division and the development of Blythedale Coastal Resort.

The Marketing & Sales team have been involved in the creation of exceptional products across the country and we are finding that there is such a demand for a comprehensive marketing and sales service for developers. Our comprehensive in-house team offers:

-       Development concepts

-       Strategic branding and creative conceptualisation

-       Website, SEO and social media strategy

-       Email marketing campaigns

-       Media buying and liason

-       Customer Relationship Management

-       Public Relations

-       Event management and exhibitions

-       Budget management and reporting

Further to this, the turn-key approach of supporting our marketing efforts with a strong sales focus has resulted in some excellent achievements in the developments we have been involved in. Read about the eLan team having sold the most property (in value) on Simbithi in 2011 and our success at Shortens so far. Coupled with the excellent sales figures we achieved over the festive season, 2012 has certainly gotten off to the right start!

So, if you have an existing or new developemnt that you would like to reposition in the market, contact us to help find your ultimate solution!

After a short builders holiday at Blythedale Coastal Resort, construction work has once again commenced on Celebrity Mile with transfer of the first 23 sites expected in May 2012.

Keep focused and keep in touch!

The Christmas season has certainly been a topsy turvy one with unexpected results, in week 19, Blackburn got a famous 3-2 victory away at Old Trafford against Manchester United and this week they lost 2-1 at home to Stoke, in week 19, Aston Villa won 3-1 away at Chelsea and this week lost 2-0 at home to Swansea and the list continues !!

Manchester United were looking to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat at home to Blackburn with a victory away at Newcastle but two great goals from Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye and a comical own goal from Jones gave Newcastle a convincing 3-0 victory and heaped more pressure on Sir Alex

Manchester City lost in week 19, 1-0 away at Sunderland and then in week 20 beat Liverpool 3-0, Arsenal who won 1-0 at home to Wolves in week 19, then lost 2-1 away at Stoke !! the bookmakers have been having a longer than usual new years party !!!!!!

Chelsea bounced back, or more to the point bobbled back with a
2-1 win at Wolves, secured by a last minute goal from Frank Lampard.

Everton had been on their best run for ten months, having taken seven points from their last three games, before hosting bottom club Bolton at Goodison Park, Everton took the lead with a freak goal from keeper Howard, a long clearance caught the wind and sailed over the Bolton keeper, before Bolton staged a comeback and scored two goals through David Ngog and soon to be transferred (to Chelsea) Gary Cahill.

Tottenham had a tough game in prospect at home to West Brom, a team who have gained more points away from home than they have at home this season, a well organised, disciplined team who defend well and try and catch you out on the counter attack, for most of the game the West Brom game plan of defending deep and frustrating the Tottenham team seemed to be working, but a flash of brilliance from Jermaine Defoe gave Tottenham a 1-0 victory and they continue their quest to challenge the Manchester clubs for the title.

With all these amazing results over Christmas and new year the premiership title race is getting a lot more interesting, Manchester City are still on top, three points clear of Manchester United, Tottenham are in third place, three points behind United with a game in hand, Chelsea are in fourth, five points behind Spurs and Arsenal are in fifth. Tottenham's game in hand is being played next Wednesday against Everton, which if they win will put Spurs nine points ahead of Arsenal. A nice start to the New Year for the Spurs fans !!

League leaders Manchester City, threw away two points away at West Brom, where a tenacious defence from the home side, stopped City from scoring for the first time this season and with Manchester United thrashing Wigan 5-0, the Manchester teams are now level at the top on 45 points each, a Dimitar Berbatov hat trick and a harsh sending off for Wigan's Sammon was Wigan's undoing, click here for the highlights - http://footyroom.com/manchester-united-5-0-wigan-athletic-2-2011-12

Tottenham continue their impressive form with a 2-0 away victory at Norwich, the welsh wizard, Gareth Bale was outstanding and his two goals have put Spurs in a very nice position going into the New Year, Bale's performance led manager Harry Redknapp into claiming that the only teams in the world who could possible afford him were Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City, clearly a comment to show Bale's value to the Tottenham team.

This victory puts Tottenham seven points behind the Manchester duo, but with a victory in their game in hand, would see the gap closed to four points, enough to make the pressure tell on Sir Alex and Mr Mancini.

Chelsea and Arsenal saw their title dreams falter, Chelsea at home to Fulham, could only manage a 1-1 draw and their erratic form is going to damage any title ambitions, whilst Arsenal could only muster a similar scoreline at home to strugglers Wolves, Chelsea and Arsenal are now four and three points respectively behind Tottenham.

Bottom placed Blackburn amazingly managed to snatch a point away at Liverpool, whilst second from bottom Bolton lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle, Bolton are now four points away from the safety zone and Blackburn are five points adrift.

All the current talk and rumours surrounding the Premier League are centered on the January transfer window, who will spend the cash to strengthen their title dreams and who will pay the money to fight for their Premiership survival, we are entering a very interesting part of the season !!

Happy New Year

Week 19, produced some unexpected results, blame it on too much Christmas pudding or indulging in the Champagne over the New Year festivities, but none of the top four teams won their games.

Manchester City were beaten 1-0 away at Sunderland, a goal from Dong-Won Ji, three minutes into injury time at the end of the game, lifted Sunderland to thirteenth in the league and left Manchester rueing the missed opportunity to pull away from United, both teams are locked on 45 points at the top.

Third placed Tottenham looked to be heading for a win away at Swansea after taking the lead through Van Der Vaart, but a goal for the Swans from ex Chelsea player Scott Sinclair, six minutes before the end, denied Tottenham the three points.

Chelsea slumped to a shock 3-1 home defeat against Aston Villa, after taking a 1-0 lead, when Didier Drogba scored his 150th goal for the club, they could not build on it and poor defending allowed Villa to embarrass the blues of Chelsea.

Arsenal moved into fourth place above Chelsea, after a 1-0 home win over local rivals QPR and it was that man again, Robin Van Persie who got Arsenal the three points. With Thierry Henry about to re sign for the Gunners, it could be a very interesting time for the Arsenal fans.

Liverpool remain in sixth place after a 3-1 home win over Newcastle, with the return of Steven Gerard inspiring the reds to victory.

Blackburn's win at Old Trafford has lifted them off the bottom, leaving Bolton to hold up the rest of the league after they could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to fellow strugglers Wolves.

Third from bottom Wigan produced a spirited performance to claim a point away at Stoke, leaving them two points away from the safety zone.

Making The Ballito Dream Affordable

Saturday, 24 December 2011 08:02

Competitive prices that don’t compromise on quality with lovely finishes in spacious apartments flooding with sunlight, Shortens Country Estate is adding even more value to an already varied offering in Ballito. “The best thing about property in Ballito is not just that it offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle with a growing business environment, but also that for those considering a property purchase, there are many options to choose from. Anything from luxury homes starting at R 10 million to an entry-level home priced conservatively under the R 1 million mark – many gems can be found in Ballito and you don’t even have to look very hard” says Mark Taylor, CEO of eLan Property Group.

“eLan is very excited to introduce Shortens Country Estate to those looking for either homes or investment options up the North Coast. The Ballito lifestyle is definitely becoming more accessible with great products such as this one making the dream affordable” comments Karen Jessop, eLan Sales Manager.

As a first-time property-owner, 25-year-old Neroshnee Singh who recently bought at Shortens Country Estate agrees saying that she would promote the estate to anyone looking for a quiet and well-located home. “I’m getting married in March and my fiancé and I are very much looking forward to moving in to our new apartment. To be honest, I fell for Shortens hard mostly because it is so family-centric and affordable in relation to other estates in the area – it certainly suits our budgets as soon-to-be newlyweds,” Neroshnee continues saying, “I am 100% happy with the offering. It is spacious, well configured, and as an added bonus, is close to the highway and just a few minutes from my work.”

With only 32 units still available in Phase 2, nearly 50% of the development has been sold already to wise buyers, half of whom have chosen the estate as their primary residence. The size of the units and the pricing in comparison to other estates is what is getting people talking about Shortens Country Estate. Starting from only R 759 000, make sure to visit Shortens Country Estate before considering any other Ballito estates.

eLan Dominates November Sales on Simbithi

Leading the pack in property investment, the acclaimed Simbithi Eco-Estate is poised for prospective buyers to take advantage of the lowest prime interest rate in recent years, as well as enjoy the lifestyle benefits that come with living on KwaZulu Natal’s premier eco-estate. The Estate continues to sell due to it’s established positioning in the market and because, despite financial pressures, people are still on the look out for primary residential purchasing opportunities which allow them to increase their share in the market. This is exemplified by the highest recorded 2011 monthly sales achieved last month (November 2011) by the eLan Property Group on the sought after Estate.

“Although the South African property market has not wholly recovered to its’ former levels before the global financial downturn of 2008/2009, it is showing positive signs of re-emergence for property investors and hopeful homeowners,” said Karen Jessop, the recently appointed eLan Sales Manager. “My team out at Simbithi has had a phenomenal month achieving over R 14,000,000 in sales! We have marketed our product extensively and our agents seem to have perfected a winning formula. They know the available stock extremely well and understand their buyers’ needs ensuring that they can find just about anyone their dream home.”

Simbithi Eco-Estate is truly the ideal address for those seeking a secure outdoor lifestyle with the comforts of lavish living. Now more than ever, with the property market at the beginning of an upward slope toward great returns and increased value, this opportunity is not to be missed by discerning property investors, as recent sales have shown. “If November is anything to go by, we can’t wait for the festive season,” Karen concludes with a laugh, “come visit us and you’ll never want to leave!”

The Manchester clubs continue their domination of the league in week 17's games, City beat Stoke 3-0 at home whilst United beat Fulham 5-0 at Craven Cottage

The game of week 17 was last night, I was at White Hart Lane for the Tottenham v Chelsea game, third against fourth in the Premiership, Tottenham had gone into the game with six consecutive home victories, whilst Chelsea in the last week had shown how erratic they have been this season, a victory over leaders Manchester City in week 15 was followed by a draw away at Wigan, so the odds were in favour of Tottenham taking all three points.

Tottenham started the game perfectly, they took the game to Chelsea, their passing, movement, and tempo, left Chelsea reeling and when Adebayor scored from a Bale cross in the seventh minute, it looked like it was going to open the flood gates to a Spurs victory, unfortunately Chelsea had not read the script and a goal against the run of play from Sturridge, gave Chelsea the equaliser and awoke them from their slumber, they grew in confidence and suddenly it was a different game. The second half was end to end stuff, but despite both teams having numerous chances neither team could get the goal to give them victory and it finished 1-1, which was a fair reflection of the game.

Arsenal scored a late winner away at Aston Villa, coming away with a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Robin Van Persie and Benayoun in the 87th minute !!

Liverpool threw away the possibility of three points at Wigan, where they suffered the same fate as Chelsea in week 16, by only coming away with a point, the surprise of week 17 was Newcastle's 3-2 home defeat to West Brom.

Click here to see the Premiership standings for  Christmas 2011, Manchester City are poised nicely going into the festive games, and if they continue with their current form, they will be difficult to knock off that top spot, but football can be a funny game and plenty can still happen.
