Simbithi Family Fun Day Hosted by eLan Property Group Rocks the Eco Estate

Simbithi Eco Estate’s wonderful Heron Community Centre was buzzing with activity and festivity at the eLan Property Group’s Annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Hosted by the eLan Group’s Estate Agents based at the Eco Estate’s Country Club, the Group’s Sales and Development Director, Andrew Thompson says it’s always a highly anticipated event. “Having been involved in the early stages of the Eco Estate’s development, we look forward to coming back here each year to share the awesome family vibe.”

The fit early birds headed out in perfect overcast conditions on the challenging 8,3km trail race sponsored by Garlicke and Bousfield. Winner, Trygyne Wang blazed the course in just over 41 minutes, with Brian Taylor close behind in second, and Mark McClure taking third place. The women weren’t far behind with Sandy Clark, Tracey Levinson, and Christine Fouche completing the hilly course in first, second, and third place.

Re-fuelling with healthy Bos sports drinks, participants could enter multiple events.

Keen fishermen were also out early, trying their luck and learning from the master, Mark de la Hey. It’s apparent that the eco estate has an abundance of keen young catch-and-release fishermen with the youngsters winning all the prizes. Sponsored by Freespool Angling, the biggest catch of the day went to James Pattison with a 36cm specimen.

Billed as a non-competitive event, the Garlicke and Bousfield 4 km “Go Green” family nature walk brought out the competitive spirit in some youngsters. Richard Tucker’s little daughter, couldn’t help pipping her dad to the finish at the Talisman arch. It was good family fun with parents, kids, and canines exploring the eco estate together. Dressed to the ‘Go Green’ theme, the Jouberts – Charmaine, Gemma, and Max – walked away with the Best Dressed prize.

Putting their putting skills to the test, the Bay Union Adventure Golf Challenge was hotly contested across all three age groups.  Simbithi Pro, Elbert du Plessis was generous with his expert advice – helping budding golfers to read the lines and sink those putts.

SMG Ballito took the opportunity to show their full range of X-Class and sedan models shuttling families from the Guinea Fowl Community Centre to Heron and back in style. Keep an eye out for the upcoming launch of new additions to the stylish X-range.

With refreshing Slushies, delicious wood-fired pizzas, and Afritude belting out familiar favourites, it was unlimited fun relaxing at the pool. Danny Fischer, whom many will remember from his Blarney Brothers’ days, kept the party tunes going into the late afternoon.

From the eLan Property Group, thank you to all the Simbithi Eco Estate residents who came out to enjoy the day and to the SEEHOA team headed by Estate Manager, Malcolm Samuel, for their support.

Also, a big thank you to our event sponsors and lucky draw prize donors: Mangwanani Spa, Homewood Furniture, The Figtree Restaurant, SMG Ballito, The Shed Restaurant, Spirit of eLan, L’Ermitage Chateau and Villas, Taylor Meat, Wow Studio Salons, Tsogo Sun Resort Hotels for magnificent midweek breaks, and AHA Riverside Hotel and Restaurant, Barry Bowditch Photography, and SMG Ballito Valet Service.

From the eLan Sales Team at Simbithi Country Club – Elsie, Clive, Jackie, Tania and Brenda as well as the Marketing Team based at eLan’s Gateway Head Office, we hope you had fun, we certainly did and look forward to seeing everyone there next year!
