This morning 1st March, I was representing Tottenham Hotspur FC in promoting a National Campaign to get a million people out and about cleaning up their communities, the ‘Clean for The Queen’ aims to give the country a tidy-up ahead of The Queen’s 90th birthday in April.
The national campaign will be the biggest community-led clean-up the country has ever seen. I was joined by Councillor Taylor, Councillor Daniel Anderson, Cabinet Member for Environment, we are encouraging and supporting groups and individuals who want to ‘do their bit’ to help keep the country clean over a weekend of activity from 4 to 6 March 2016.
The event was kicked off at the right royal location of Queen Elizabeth II Stadium in Enfield.
I have a real problem with people who litter, wherever you are in the world, it is possible to put your rubbish in areas dedicated for refuse, why people choose to throw cans, bottles, cigarettes, crisp packets etc., into the streets, public areas, parks is beyond me, why do people not want their communities to be clean, tidy and litter free.
Driving along anywhere in the world you see litter strewn all over the place, which ruins this beautiful world that we live in.
The ‘Clean for the Queen’ campaign is aimed at the UK, but why can’t every place in the world, every city, town, community, township, and pride themselves on having a litter free environment.
I think that this campaign should be extended to all of the Countries of the Commonwealth, so that everyone can celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday in litter free areas.
Have a litter free week
