In our fourth year of sponsorship, the eLan Property Group hosted clients and associates to an elegant day’s racing at the prestigious eLan Gold Cup on Sunday 30 July. The main race was also the climax of a creative competition in which ownership of a piece of land valued at R1 million on the stunning Blythedale Coastal Estate on KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast was at stake.
The excitement around the Gold Horseshoe during the ‘marathon’ eLan Gold Cup was palpable as 16 virtual owners cheered and willed their horses to victory. In the build-up to the main race, an online and offline competition culminated in the selection of the finalists, each represented by a horse in the eLan Gold Cup.
This year’s Sunday event was part of a bigger Gold Cup Festival of Racing, which included a Celebrity Gala Dinner on Thursday and Golf Day on Friday, followed by two days of world-class racing on Saturday and Sunday. eLan Property Group CEO, Mark Taylor said he was thrilled with the new elements and vigour that eLan’s partner in the festival, Prosport International, had brought to this year’s event.
On the Thursday evening, the Silver Ring Room at Greyville Convention Centre was transformed into a formal Black and Gold banquet venue, setting the tone for the four-day Festival of Racing which followed. A light-hearted, inspiring evening, guests were treated to an intimate audience with sports achievers: Comrades Marathon winner, Bongmusa Mthembu, Rugby guru, Nick Mallett and international soccer star, Delron Buckley.
Hosted by popular comedian Aaron McIlroy and racing personality, Paul Lafferty, the evening was a celebration of sporting prowess and a unique opportunity for business networking and entertainment.
On the racing calendar since 1926, the 3200m Gold Cup is an equine marathon that boasts a proud history and captures the public imagination on a wide scale. The race suffers no fools when it comes to fitness and stamina.
“The Gold Cup is a fitting end to the local racing calendar and gives us a wonderful opportunity to host clients and associates and showcase our development at Blythedale Coastal Estate,” said eLan Property Group CEO, Mark Taylor.
Ecstatic winner, Trevor Harding, entered the Win a R1m site at Blythedale Coastal Estate at the Black & Gold Gala Dinner which formed part of the Gold Cup Festival of Racing. Thank you for all the entries – unfortunately, there can only be one winner.
