THE MAYOR OFFICIALLY ‘CUTS THE RIBBON’ FOR JACKALBERRY RESIDENTIAL ESTATE IN MANDENI
Sappi Mandeni has entered into a joint venture with the eLan Property Group to develop Mandeni’s first ever gated estate, known as Jackalberry Residential Estate, named after the high population of Jackalberry trees in the area.
Jackalberry Estate is found inland on the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal, located near Tugela Mouth and Zinkwazi beach. Only one hour North of Durban is one of South Africa’s first entry level secure estates, comprising of 385 houses, starting at R450 000 up to R 1000 000 for the larger homes facing the golf course and The Tugela River.
Jackalberry Residential Estate will be a first of its kind in the area and will offer value for money. Currently, 90% of the properties brought to the market for sale are already occupied with tenants creating a sense of urgency for out of town buyers to capitalize on the free standing, two and three bedroom homes which can be purchased to live in or as an investment.
The estate will comprise of an already existing 10-hole golf course with eighteen tee boxes, a family-friendly events centre, bar, restaurant, gatehouse, 24-hour security and electrified fencing extending around the entire estate which residents and tenants will be able to make use of.
Developers are currently breaking ground as the first 400m’s of the surrounding fence line and palisade fencing on the southern side of the estate is being erected.
“We now look forward to the new gatehouse being built in the New Year, (this will be complete within six months), followed by phase 2 – 6 which is subject to zoning, this will comprise of housing, schools, sports arenas, commercial and retail in the area. The purpose for this, among many others is to create a secure lifestyle for Jackalberry Estate’s residents and to increase the value of homes within the estate.” said Andrew Thompson, eLan Property Group Development Director.
To celebrate this milestone, the developers invited the local Mayor, Mr Siphesihle Zulu and his dignitaries, surrounding school principals, church heads, local businesses, eLan Property Group and Sappi staff members, professional teams as well as the Media to witness the official ribbon cutting ceremony, undertaken by the Mayor himself on Wednesday, October 26th.
