The Warrior Race is heading back for its second year at the magnificent Event Bowl at Blythedale Coastal Estate on July 14 -15, 2018.

Sanctioned as the national championship event, the stakes have been raised as winners in the Pro and Age Group divisions will be jetting off to the World Championships in London in October.

Last year’s event was a first for the venue and the 3,000 competitors and their 2,000 supporters were blown away by what the estate has to offer.

“The terrain, the vibe, the setting. Blythedale Coastal Estate is a unique experience and we can’t wait to host the athletes, their families and supporters again this year,” says Blythedale Coastal Estate Development Director, Andrew Thompson.

With a range of events scheduled over the two days, the challenge is not restricted to the super-fit.

Winners from the 15km Black Ops competition will go through as the Pro Winners while the Age Group winners will be selected from the 10km Commando Elite division.

The men and women who win will be pitting themselves against the toughest Obstacle Course Race (OCR) athletes in the world. “It will be a first,” says Warrior Race Director, Hennie Scheepers, “and a leap into the international arena for The Warrior Race and SAOCR community.”

Competitors explore the estate’s natural beauty over distances ranging from the 5km Rookie circuit with 15 obstacles, a 10km Commando circuit with 22 obstacles and the hard-core Black Ops 15km course with 30 obstacles and unrivalled views.

For the predominantly fast-twitchers, the popular Reebok Sprint Race over a shorter course gives them a chance to win big prize money on a high-speed spectator-friendly format in the Event Bowl.

Live music, a beer tent and food stalls make for a vibrant hospitality area and the supervised Kids Zone means parents can take the gap to compete and enjoy the day with their families.

“Healthy, active living is fundamental to what we are building here at Blythedale Coastal Estate,” says Thompson. “Enter as an individual, use the opportunity for a corporate team-build, or grab a few friends to take up the challenge – we’d love to see you here in July.”
